Is TV a good or a bad thing? Describe and explain your personal opinions about television.

I think this topic should not be too much generalized. The point is how can you deal with the flood of information on TV to select your piece of knowledge or entertainment out of this great number/wealth of information.
In my opinion the daily news on TV are good sources to hear about (erfahren?) the latest things what’s going on in your country or what’s going on all over the world through fade-in’s from acute happenings or on-site reporters. Thus TV helps to improve one’s general knowledge.
Documentary films about other regions, animals or interesting persons for example /join entertaining and knowledge in an interesting way (together).
Last but not least there are the feature movies ,the most popular supply (angebot) das das fernsehen uns bietet? -> which is offered by the tv-stations (ermöglichen es uns?) -> and which give us the possibilities without extertion (???) to relax and uns unterhalten zu lassen? -> being entertained at boring evenings.
Seen from this angle (unter diesem Aspekt betrachtet ?) TV is a an important source for information, knowledge and valuable help for education and contributes thus to quality of life.
On the other hand violence and action in the TV can have a bad influence on children and young persons. ? (Jungendliche; oder doch besser teenagers - adolescents (Halbwüchsige ?))
They mostly cannot distinguish between reality and fiction and so they often imitate their heroes and follow their examples. Violence and brutality can consequently be seen as way to solve problems. Also erotic scenes can have influence on the opinion of love and partnership if das Verhalten der Schauspieler als einzig richtig.
Parents have to take care of their children and if they take time ?(sich zeit nehmen?) to explain films or watch selected programs with them it can protect children from the above-mentioned negative influences.
However TV companies do their best (ihren teil dazu beitragen?) to select the programme carefully and mark the transmissions categories or send /suitable for children (kinderfreundlich; was besser?) to bestimmten Zeiten? -> at selected times, it is possible to avoid above-mentioned reasons
It is thus visible (ersichtlich?), TV should not be generalized as good or bad. A responsible and carful relationship to your tv-set should make it possible to enjoy the programms with its many faces and the possibility to avoid nearly all the negatives by simply switch it off.
